Abstract

In this paper, we have compared the physicochemical properties of different land-use types in the North Foot of the Yinshan Mountains using soil sampling. The results indicate an alkaline soil pH range of 7.6-8.2 in the study area. Soil organic matter content was low, between 0.4-2.0%. Organic matter content was highest in grassland and lowest in cultivated land. A high degree of vegetation cover for grassland, woodlands, bush, and human-made woodland yielded a high proportion of soil particle sizes less than 2 mm in diameter, while cultivated land with a bare surface had a high content of soil particles greater than 2 mm. Soil calcium carbonate content ranged from 1.02-5.25%. Bush, cultivated land, and human-made woodland had higher soil calcium carbonate content, and grassland and non-cultivated land had a lower soil calcium carbonate content. A soil water-soluble salt below 0.1% is considered non-salinization of soil.
