Abstract

Synopsis The regression between soil moisture deficit and the relative evapotranspiration was curvilinear with a correlation coefficient of .72. A negative linear regression described the relationship between the soil moisture potential and the relative evapotranspiration with a simple correlation coefficient of −.74. The relationship between unsaturated conductivity and the relative evapotranspiration rate was investigated by designing a laboratory experiment which showed that plants growing in this soil wilted as the unsaturated conductivity dropped from 8.89 cm./day/joule to 0.77 cm./day/joule.
