Abstract

1. A series of determinations of the electrophoretic patterns in plasmas of dogs whose livers have been irradiated following intravenous injection of radioactive colloidal gold are presented. These are compared to a similar control series. The irradiated animals had significantly lower serum albumins and significantly higher gamma globulin components. Some suggestive differences in the effect of age on level of the alpha2 globulin are noted. 2. Examination of ascitic fluid samples obtained from irradiated animals showed that all plasma protein fractions appeared in the ascitic fluid, with albumin, alpha2 globulin, fibrinogen and gamma globulin predominant.
