Abstract

In 10 young men tested both after alcohol and after a placebo drink, simple reaction time was significantly reduced after alcohol. The variation was not wholly a function of blood alcohol concentration. On the descending portion of the blood alcohol curve, reaction time fell more rapidly than the blood alcohol, suggesting a process of adaptation.
