Abstract
In this paper the problem of synthesizing synchronizable sequential machines using partial scan on finite-state machines is considered. First, the principle of making a finite state machine synchronizable using partial scan is presented, and the concept of an extended synchronizing sequence using the normal inputs and scan inputs is proposed. The problems of making a finite-state machine synchronizable with minimum scannable state variables and of finding the shortest extended synchronizing sequence given the number of scannable state variables are also discussed. © 1998 Scripta Technica.
