Abstract
A 12‐month study of runoff and suspended sediment yield was undertaken in a 0.93 km2 catchment in southern Chile. Rainfall and total runoff for the period December 1983–November 1984 were estimated at 2170 and 1150 mm, respectively, representing a runoff coefficient of 0.53. Suspended sediment concentrations ranged between 14 and 186 mg L−1, with an average of 71 mg L−1. Suspended sediment yield was estimated at 84 t or 90 t km−2 yr−1.
