Formation of polychlorinated dibenzo‐p‐dioxins (PCDDS) and dibenzofurans (PCDFS) in typical urban incinerators in Japan

Abstract

Eighty samples of bottom ash, fly ash and sludge from four typical urban incinerators were analysed for polychlorinated dibenzo‐p‐dioxins (PCDDs) and dibenzofurans (PCDFs). A statistical analysis was done on the levels and components of the two chemicals. In addition, yearly output amounts of both chemicals in samples from each incinerator were estimated.
