Abstract
We demonstrate standard based Ethernet operation administration and maintenance (OAM) functionalities by the Ethernet OAM frame in the Ethernet network based on the resilient packet ring (RPR) based architecture. This paper describes the requirements for highly reliable Ethernet services in the metro area network from the operator's point of view. The Ethernet continuity check and the Ethernet loop back functionalities in the RPR based Ethernet network with several scenarios that may exist in the commercial operation are successfully confirmed for the first time.
