The transient electromagnetic field produced by a current pulse moving along a straight line is considered. The algorithm for constructing the components of the electromagnetic field is given. This algorithm enables us to obtain directly the space-time representation of the electromagnetic pulse and to reveal the peculiarities of its dependence on the source-current characteristics.
