Abstract

In this paper, we develop a digital radio frequency memory (DRFM) which samples and quantizes (A/D conversion) an incoming pulse-typed radar signal, stores it and produces (D/A conversion) a jamming signal from the sampled and stored radar signal. Electronic countermeasure (ECM) techniques against radar can be enhanced by using DRFM to simulate the radar signal for subsequent re-transmission to confuse radar at any distance. This paper presents the principle of DRFM and its application in ECM against pulse type radar.
