Abstract

In Brief Syphilis is a systemic disease caused by the spirochete Treponema pallidum that is usually acquired through sexual exposure. Syphilis is usually acquired after sexual contact with an infected sexual partner. We describe a case of primary syphilis transmitted by a human bite from nonsexual contact.
