I have been involved in developing diagnostic and in particular Failure Mode effects Analysis (FMEA) software 2 using a variety of Object Oriented Languages (CLOS Smalltalk and POP-11 with a set of Flavours like langauge extensions termed POP++). These applications have concentrated on the electrical domain which has traditionally been dominated by Fortran and C.
