Abstract

A straightforward state-feedback pole-shifting algorithm is derived from the Hsu-Chen theorem relating the open- and closed-loop characteristic frequencies of multivariable feedback systems to the return-difference determinant. The simplicity of the derivation and its relationship to transfer-function descriptions should prove helpful in the search for design techniques for systems with incomplete state feedback.
