Pulpwood requirements for the pulp and paper industry

Abstract
Summary The properties of both softwood and hardwood fibre resources available for the pulp and paper industry vary considerably and the separate characteristics of these materials must be used to advantage for economic production. A brief review is made of the pulping processes which can be applied together with a description of the properties of the resulting pulps. Then, an outline is given of the requirements for the supply of future fibrous raw materials for the Australian pulp and paper industry.
