Abstract

Abstract Cystometry appearance day and night was investigated in children with monosymptomatic nocturnal enuresis. Repeated CMG's were performed on two occasions in the awake state and once during sleep. The study revealed a low incidence of unstable bladder contractions during the day. A significantly higher incidence of unstable bladder at nighttime did not correlate to the enuretic events. Except for the occurrence of unstable bladder contractions, the mean urodynamic data for the group was reproducible. A full bladder from an otherwise normal bladder capacity triggered enuresis. The start of micturition during enuresis was shown to coincide with an abnormally low pelvic floor EMG activity.
