Abstract

STATISTICAL DATA regarding the effective ness of new measuring devices are typically lim ited and preliminary until evidence is accumulated through studies in the field. Such an instrument is the Peabody Picture Vocabulary Test (PPVT), an intelligence test constructed by Lloyd M. Dunn in 1959 (1). The test serves as a quick screening instrument and has been designed to require mini mal verbal and/or motor responses. Such charac teristics contribute to the instrument's suitability for use with subjects having serious verbal and motor impairments without affecting its utility for use with others.
