Analyzing the Influence Factors on Efficiency of Public Libraries in Metropolitan Cities by DEA and Tobit Model

본 연구에서는 국내 대도시 소재 129개 공공도서관의 효율성을 평가함과 동시에 이러한 효율성에 영향을 미치는 요인은 무엇인지 분석하였다. 분석결과 첫째, 효율성 평가의 경우 기술효율성의 비효율은 상대적으로 순수기술효율성의 비효율에 기인하는 것으로 나타났다. 둘째, 영향요인 분석의 경우에는 인구변수와 수도권 지역 더미변수가 도서관의 효율성에 통계적으로 유의한 영향을 미치는 변수인 것으로 나타났다. This paper examines the levels and influence factors on efficiency of public libraries in metropolitan cities. For this purpose, In the first stage, the efficiency score analysis of 129 sample public libraries has been undertaken. In the second stage, the efficiency scores obtained from the first stage are regressed on environmental factors. The result of this study shows that : (1) main source of technical inefficiency is pure technical inefficiency rather than scale inefficiency; (2) it is positive effect environmental factors on the efficiency that the population, the dummy variable of capital area.
