Abstract

Significance Amberlite IRA 402(OH) mediated synthesis of tricyclic oxaza quinolinium salts 3 was described. The reaction was performed with 8-hydroxyquinoline derivatives 1 and dibromoalkanes 2 in the presence of the Amberlite to afford the corresponding fused tricyclic oxaza quinolinium salts 3 (5-97% yields, 17 examples).
