Abstract

The Sharia Court of Appeal has been the most controversial court in Nigeria due to its multifarious nature as a statutory and Islamic court in a unified court system simultaneously administering Islamic, common, and customary laws. The option for the future is between a modified unified court system and a parallel system of courts wherein the administration of the three types of law will flourish as semi-autonomous systems within the Nigerian legal framework.
