Abstract
Dynamic synthesis and utilization of adenosine triphosphate in embryos and seedlings of a fast‐growing wheat (Triticum aestivum L.) variety, ‘Yamhill,’ resulted in a higher overall energy level and energy charge than that of slower‐growing ‘Hyslop’ seedlings. The varietal difference in growth potential of seedlings appears to be related to energy metabolism and capacity of synthesis.
