Abstract

The essential oils were isolated by hydrodistillation from the aerial parts of A. annua L., A. scoparia waldst & kit. A. spicigera C. Koch., L. vulgaris L. and A. absinthium L. that grow wild in Iran. The oils were analyzed by capillary GC and GC-MS. The highest oil yield was obtained from A. absinthium (0.92%). The main constituents of the oils were as fallow: A. annua; Artemisia ketone (14.3%), 1.8–cineole+limonene (9.8%), pinocarvone (9.1%), ß-selinene (8.9%), camphor (8.1%) andy-muurolene (7.1%). A. scoparia; Capillene (48.5%), ß-pinene (9.8%), 1.8–cineole+ limonene (9.2%), camphor (6.9%) and capilline (5.6%). A. spicigera; Camphor (40.0%), 1.8–cineole+ limonene (31.0%) and camphene (5.5%). A. vulgaris; Clemol (8.9%), 1,8 cineole + limonene (7.5%), ot-eudesmol (6.6%) and spathulenol (3.7%). A. absinthium; ot-Phellandrene (25.5%), ß-pinene (25.4%), sabinene (14.4%) and p-cymene (7.6%).
