Hermeticism and Alchemy: the Case of Ludovigo Lazzarelli

Abstract

Abstract This paper examines the alchemical interests of Ludovico Lazzarelli (1450-1500) and of some alchemical texts connected with his name, analyzing them within the context of Lazzarelli's Hermetic philosophical position. Beginning with an analysis of the specific relationship between alchemy and Hermeticism expressed by Lazzarelli, this paper proposes for discussion some general hypotheses on the link between alchemy and Hermeticism and between alchemy and magic in the Quattrocento.
