Abstract
The paper deals with development stage of the suitable conception of traction drive including the structure of control design for the experimental rail vehicle with independent rotating wheels driven by permanent magnet synchronous motors (PMSMs). The research including the design and the construction of this experimental vehicle is very extensive and complex. The whole vehicle system is supplied and operated by the traction batteries. Nowadays this vehicle conception is very required by operators of light wheel vehicles particularly at trams and other transport means for urban transportation.
