Abstract
Summary The use of cardiotocography for screening high risk and clinically distressed fetuses during routine work in a busy department is described. When abnormal patterns appeared the decision whether to interfere was determined by fetal blood sampling. Two years' results have been analyzed. Although there was a high degree of accuracy in the diagnosis of fetal distress there are still limitations of monitoring methods for routine application.
