Abstract
1. A method is described for separating and enumerating the ciliate Protozoa which occur in the large intestine of the horse. 2. The concentration of ciliates varied in the different regions of the large intestine, being low in the caecum and highest in the left dorsal colon. 3. Two distinct populations of ciliates occurred in the large intestine of the horse, one from the caecum to the pelvic flexure and the other from the pelvic flexure to the rectum.
