Abstract

In this paper, an algorithm of dynamic bandwidth allocation is proposed for group services in passive optical network, where group bandwidth limitation is used to limit the total bandwidth for a group of users, instead of general individual bandwidth limitation for each user. Simulation results show that proposed group dynamic bandwidth allocation algorithm provides better quality of service for grouped users who tend to use bandwidth alternatively than that for users who tend to use bandwidth synchronously. Therefore, it is avoided that synchronous acting users occupy too much bandwidth, and the performance of group services is assured.
