Abstract

Chaos and chaos control is studied in the Pierce-diode and in a laboratory plasma diode experiment. Both systems are characterized by a period doubling route to chaos that is characterized by a low-dimensional phase space attractor. Unstable periodic orbits of low periodicity can be stabilized in both systems by discrete time feedback control.
