Abstract
The Yellow River is a river that has relatively less runoff but with much sediment discharge, of which the water mainly come from the upstream while the sediment from the middle reaches, and they are imbalanced in the transporting process. The amount of water and sediment change greatly and the duration of their coming centralized exceedingly, they are complex and polytropic. The mode of water and sediment variation in the middle Yellow River is mostly concerned in its management. For the specificity of the Yellow River in water and sediment, sedimentation is very serious, which severely affected the channel. In this paper, according to former research, data referred to flood and sediment were collected and arranged, the mode of water and sediment variation in the middle Yellow River was preliminarily analyzed and discussed. The results showed that the most important two modes were the Rich Water Rich Sediment mode and the Low Water Low Sediment mode.
