Abstract
The evolution of phytoplankton biomass, and bacterial number and activity were followed in laboratory microcosms with and without zooplankton, in order to study the time lag between phytoplankton and bacterioplankton development, as well as the possible influence of consumers on phytoplankton-bacterioplankton coupling.
