A new species ofHughesiella(Acari: Astigmata, Pyroglyphidae) from Costa Rica

Abstract

Hughesiella valerioi n.sp. (Acari, Pyroglyphidae, Pyroglyphinae) is described from specimens collected from chickens, goat, house dust, and pigeon litter in Costa Rica. The new species differs from H. africana in the lengths of sce and 15 and in the presence of a claw-like ventral projection on leg I.
