Abstract

Four monitoring sections were set up for on-site monitoring at Bailianjing River in the Expo Park during March to October, 2008, monitoring of 5 parameters at 4 different sites. The water quality variations are mainly related to discharge and temperature (natural), organic pollution (point source: domestic wastewater) in Bailianjing River. Water quality comprehensive index, sensory index, sediment pollution index were all gotten a low point, scored 1, 0.75, 0 points, respectively. The main non-standard indicator was sediment pollution. The monitoring results indicate that Bailianjing River was at unhealthy state. This study illustrates the identification of pollution sources/factors and understanding temporal/spatial variations in water quality for effective river water quality management.
