Abstract

Parasitic fauna of cultivated fishes in feefishing farm offranca, state ofSão Paulo, Br•azil.lI.Metazoa ns.Metazoan fauna from cultivated fishes (N = 433) in two teetishing farm of Franca, State af São Paulo, Brazil, was studied during a period of April 1997 through March 1999.Specimens ofpiauçú Leporinus macrocepha/us Garavello & Britski, 1988 (Anostomidae), pacu Piaractus lI1esapotamicus Holmberg, 1887 (Characidae), carp Cyprinus carpio Li nnaeus, 1758 (Cyprinidae), Ti//apia renda//i Boulenger, 1896 (C ichlidae), nile-tilapia Oreochramis ni/aticus Linnaeus, 1758 (Cic hlidae), matrinxã B/yean cepha/us Günther, 1869 (Charac idae) and tambacu hybrid (mal e ofP.mesopotomicus x female of C%ssoma macropomum Cuvier, 18 18) were collected.A total of29.3% was parasitized by monogenean, 9.7% with crustacean (copepodits and adu lts af Lernaea cyprinacea Linnaeus, 1758 and Argll/us sp.) and 1.6% with myxosporean (Henneguya piaractus Martins & Souza, 1997 and Myxobolus co/assomatis Molnar & Békési, 1993).The most susceptible spec ies to myxosporean inlestation was P. mesopotamieus.L. macrocepha/us and P.mesopalamieus that shawed a hi gher susceptibility to Argu/us sp inlestation.lt was not observed significant difference (P > 0.05) in the seasonal variation of L. cyprinacea infection of ali species.L. macrocepho/us, P. mesopolamicus and tambacu showed a great number of P. pi//u/are with no signiticant difference (P > 0.05 ) between them.Manogenean infections were obselved in ali examined spec ies, without significant difference (P > 0.05) in the seasonal variatian.Nevel1he less, occurrence of monagenean was higher in P. mesopolamicus and lower in N ile-til apia.By the other hand, parasites number collected from P. mesOpOlall1iclls was lower in the winter.Copepadits of L. cyprinacea were found in the gills of P. mesopolamieus, tambacu and L. macrocepha/us.However, adults of L. eyprinacea were observed on ly in the P. mesopolamicus and tambacu.
