The volume of lubrication literature continued to expand, reflecting the increased experimental and theoretical attention being focused upon this discipline. Special attention is devoted to seals and sealing systems, and the growing importance of this subject is recognized by the addition to the review of a new category for seal technology. Nine categories are summarized by authorities in each particular field.
