Abstract

Abstract Data on the yields and composition of copolymers of vinyl acetate and vinyl n‐butyl ether formed at 170°C. are recorded. The yield of the copolymer is directly proportional to the amount of vinyl acetate in the monomer mixture. A copolymer which is relatively stable at elevated temperatures can be prepared by using a monomer mixture containing about 0.2 M of vinyl acetate. Above this limit of vinyl acetate, the copolymers are less heat stable. The change in composition of these copolymers has been interpreted as a chain degradation process.
