Larval release inCelleporaria Apiculata(Busk) (Bryozoa: Ascophora)

Summary Observations on the release of larvae from hyperstomial ovicells were made on the encrusting bryozoan Celleporaria apiculata (Busk). In the earliest released larvae tentacle crowns of maternal zooids aided in the processes of larval release and liberation by means of a series of co-ordinated lophophore and tentacle actions. These actions were modified in response to varying degrees of larval activity.
