Abstract

The UK government has launched the national Digital Switchover (DSO) program which aims to replace and rebuild the country's entire terrestrial television infrastructure within five years. Set to begin in 2008, the program will be conducted on a region by region basis and in several phases. The phased withdrawal of analogue, coupled with the phased rollout of the new high-power digital terrestrial television (DTT) system is expected to deliver full-power digital TV signals from all transmission sites allowing almost everyone in the UK to receive digital television.
