Contributions of the United States Hydrographic Office to Oceanography

The participation of the United States Hydrographic Office in the field of oceanography during the year of 1931 and up to the present date may be briefly summarized as follows: United States Naval surveys—Surveying of the high seas and of foreign coasts has been carried on by three surveying vessels under the cognizance of the Hydrographic Office. The U.S.S. Nokomis, operating on the north coast of Cuba, extended its hydrographic surveys from the previous season's work from about longitude 76° 50′ west, eastward to Baracoa. This survey when extended to Cape Maysi will complete the hydrographic surveys of the entire coast of Cuba.
