Abstract

Disulfoton and carbofuran insecticides when applied to wheat seed protect new seedlings from developing infestations of Schizaphis graminum (Rondani). These insecticides were assayed for compatibility with 7 seed-applied fungicides (hexachlorobenzene, thiabendazole, pentachloronitrobenzene, carboxin, carboxin:thiram, mephfuroxam, and triadimenol) to determine the effects on germination, seedling emergence, and control of greenbug. All combination treatments affected germination adversely, and in some cases (disulfotonthiabendazole, carbofuran-thiabendazole, carbofuran-pentachloronitrobenzene) reduced the seedling stand significantly as compared to the untreated check and individual fungicide and insecticide treatments. In contrast, the efficacy of disulfoton and carbofuran in controlling greenbug was not significantly affected by combining the fungicides with them on the seed.
