Abstract

Abstract In general, Vibroseis® field techniques that are optimum for reflection mapping are the worst possible for recording the “first-break” times needed for refraction weathering calculations. The purpose of this paper is to describe linearly swept frequency (LSF) vibratory field procedures for enhancing Vibroseis refraction data. The resulting optimum refraction techniques are contrasted with optimum reflection techniques and a few examples of the refraction results are shown.
