Abstract
By taking the Hubei Tourist Highway as a case study, the paper looks into the current situation and characteristics of the highway and the major landscape elements on the roadside(s) and puts forward the concept of landscape modules; further the paper established the framework of the module based framework for highway landscape planning concerning the characteristics and sequencing of landscape elements in the modules; the integration of the module into a landscape system and finally the injection of visual identity. The objective of the research to understand the different elements affecting highway landscape besides the highway itself thus provide a framework for related studies and developments in this regard.
