Abstract
Erwinia chrysanthemi, present in potato extracts prepared according to the EC method for detection of latent ring‐rot infections, can multiply and cause ring rot‐like symptoms in initial stages of disease development in the test plant Solanum melongena. Symptoms on S. melongena are described and differentiated from those caused by Clavibacter michiganensis ssp. sepedonicus.
