Time Lag and Fluctuations in Diffusion through an Inhomogeneous Material

H. L. Frisch, Stephen Prager

Open publisher page 33 citations

Abstract

It is shown that the time lag for diffusion through a slab of inhomogeneous material can be expressed in terms of the steady-state concentration distribution. This result is used to calculate the time lag in a laminated slab and to obtain bounds on the time lag in slabs with arbitrary inhomogeneities.
