Abstract
The essential oil of Cymbopogon flexuosus (Lemon grass) was collected from Kumaon (Uttrakhand) and isolated by hydrodistillation. The oil was analyzed by GC-MS. The essential oil of C. flexuosus obtained from this region was determined by GC-MS for the first time. Thirty four compounds representing 97.9 percent of the oil were identified. The major constituents of the oil are citral-a (33.1 %), citral-b (30.0 %), geranyl acetate (12.0 %) and linalool (2.6 %).
