Abstract

This paper provides guidelines for monitoring solar heating systems in the European Economic Community to promote uniformity of approach, reliability, and accuracy of results. Performance monitoring of active and passive systems is reviewed. Measuring requirements, instruments: selection and installation -- are discussed. Temperature measurements, data acquisition systems, data storage, transmission and recording are also discussed, and case study examples are given. Data reduction and treatment, check procedures and maintenance are presented. This paper is a highly technical work geared to those involved in the design and installation of performance monitoring systems.
