Abstract

Corticosterone and cortisol are present in significant concentration in serum and in tissues of the central and peripheral nervous system of the cat. Following adrenalectomy concentrations of both corticosterone and cortisol decrease significantly in all tissues. These data suggest that the sensory and neurological abnormalities observed in patients with untreated adrenal cortical insufficiency are dependent upon the lowering of tissue concentrations of these hormones.
