Abstract

Viscosity-radius expression was deduced based on the measured viscosity-temperature relationship of YLA-N32 hydraulic oil. Taking account of the effect of pressure difference and inertia force on the oil film, respectively, the analytic solutions for pressure and torque with variable viscosity were derived by using the deduced viscosity-radius expression. The results found that when the viscosity is constant, the pressure is approximately linear with the radius. Whereas, the pressure is nonlinear with the radius when considering the viscosity-radius relationship, and the pressure is lower than that when viscosity is constant at the same radius. Inertia force makes the pressure and the bearing capacity of the rotating disk decrease. The transmitted torque is almost same when the viscosity is constant and variable, and as the rotational velocity difference increases, the transmitted torque also increases. The torque with variable viscosity is much less than that with invariable viscosity. The formulas and conclusions obtained have significant theoretical and practical values.
