Abstract
Due to the advantage of one day repeating-cycle period, Geosynchronous SAR (GEO SAR) has caused much more increasing attention in the academia and industry. In order to describe GEO SAR accurately, the signal characteristics including synthetic aperture, temporal resolution, imaging swath, satellite velocity and resolution improvement factor in GEO SAR are analysed in this paper. Based on the signal characteristics, the signal processing methods of chirp scaling algorithm, range Doppler algorithm and Back Projection algorithm are applied for GEO SAR imaging. By analysis of simulation results of point target imaging, it is found that Back Projection algorithm can produce the best point target imaging. At last, some typical applications of GEO SAR are also introduced. The study on GEO SAR has remarkable economic benefits and social effects. (5 pages)
