Abstract

Summary 1. The operation of trans‐sphenoidal hypophysectomy is described and the complications discussed. 2. Attention is directed to the advantages of this procedure when compared with trans‐frontal hypophysectomy, pituitary stalk section and yttrium implantation in cases of breast cancer. 3. The advantages of hypophysectomy over adrenalectorny are described briefly. 4. Factors for consideration when cases are selected for hypophysectomy are enumerated.
