MOLYBDENUM CONTENT OF PASTURE PLANTS IN RELATION TO TOXICITY TO CATTLE

Isaac Barshad

Open publisher page 79 citations

Abstract

Pasture plants from areas of the San Joaquin Valley where cattle have been affected with a peculiar disease suspected to be molybdenum poisoning were analyzed for molybdenum content. Legumes, particularly white clover, from these areas were found to be very high in molybdenum. The effected animals were found to recover when placed on a dry forage (low molydenum) diet.
