Abstract
At the secondary-beam facility of GSI, the fission properties of short-lived neutrondeficient nuclei have been investigated in inverse kinematics. Detailed features of the measured element distributions and total kinetic energies seem to contradict the present understanding according to which the neutron shells at N =82 and N ≈ 90 are decisive for the asymmetric fission channels. 1
